Gemma Howell

It took 20 years and ten surgeries, but in 2022 Gemma Howell finally achieved her dream.

The 33-year-old claimed silver in the women's -63kg category at the Commonwealth games 

It followed her first major title with gold at the European Judo Championships in Sofia. 

The two-time Olympian from Wolverhampton had previously won European bronze in 2018.
