Joseph Blackmore gave a clear sign as to his potential with a fifth placed finish in the cross country at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, a result he counts as the best of his career.

He had previously finished in third-placed at January’s National Cyclo-Cross Championships, aged just 18.

That performance was perhaps not a surprise given his displays on the National Trophy Series circuit in 2021/22, with his maiden elite victory coming by the finest of margins in Milnthorpe last October.
