Sheffield’s Lachlan Moorhead converted junior success into Commonwealth gold in Birmingham in 2022.
Heading into Birmingham, the judoka was the reigning British champion and one of Team England’s most promising young talents – confirmed by his bronze at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam event at the back end of 2021.
And he delivered on his potential, winning 81kg gold in front of his home crowd.
In his time away from the tatami, Moorhead has also been a lead campaigner for tackling the stigma around mental health.
Earlier this year he joined forces with a charity – ‘If U Care Share’ - set up to tackle male suicide after being inspired by the likes of boxer Tyson Fury.

The three-day Judo bonanza kicked off with Team England success in the form of a gold medal for Ashley McKenzie who came out on top in an all-English final against Sam Hall in the 60kg competition.
